  • OVERTURE 1812 OF TSJAIKOVSKI AND REVOLUTION IN SURABAYA

    Posted by PuJa on Mei 24, 2011

    Written by Nurel Javissyarqi
    Translated by Agus B. Harianto

    Language of music is universal tone for the soul of human being and poetry can be said as its descent. The music could break the silence of communication such as stone incarnates golden cup for the stillness of sorrow of the universe. The loneliness makes the melodious songs and perhaps the words complete it, comes into the framework of history until civilization as the flowers.

    Music composition of Tsjaikovski (1840-1893) work is not close enough to his friend’s composition Moussorgsky; disrupt classical style or I saluted to how he controlled it. Indeed, the composer group “The Five” has their own skill in raising up banner of true Russians, moreover mental of masculinity grasped the meaning;

    Handsomeness of temperament, authority of decision, ingenuity of observations and calculations of concerned bear the risk in order to attain the ideals of the struggle, the dignity of nationality. Humane agility in defending any boundary of the power of living consciousness.

    In the Overture 1812, explosion of cannon scattered. Closer I imagine the flames of revolution in Surabaya, November 10, 1945 which was shouted loudly by Bung Tomo. The power of British forces (Allied Forces) was tested, such as painful incision of Napoleonic soldier in Moscow, described by the music observer J. Van Ackere.

    Heavy beat didn’t shrink the guts of pure heart that was resurfaced by blood of obedience, marched forward to get a glory. Pushed by various potential and blessed by ancestors, who had united the Land of God in every casement of worshiping, grace should not be forgotten, much less corrupted by the ruffians.

    The histories carved by deft hands, fingers were ready to describe the contents of the heart, passing the contents of the head, anything contained as the man of good character. Breath of peace would be taken over again when its position threatened;

    spears of bamboo were the witness, ash of hatred spread till they deaf, blind directions, easily tracked down, trapped in guerrilla combat tactics.

    Sounds surrounded fontanel of understanding of the deceased son. And at the foundation had been decided, the enemies were lying buried under the stones of stupidity, flooded by their own wicked blood.

    On the contrary, in the book “The Fighting Cock,” Lt.. Col. A.J.F. Doul, said: “The people of Indonesia in Surabaya did not take into account the dead; when one fell, another stepped forward … Weapons voice continued, the pile of fallen rising above the barricades, but the people of Indonesia went forward much more and more, stepped above the dead .” (Api Revolusi di Surabaya, Published by Ksatrya Surabaya, first printing 1964, p. 29, written by Dr. H. Roeslan Abdulgani).

    Likewise the song of devotional by sneaking battered heavily to have edification. More glorious confidence from a music that is embedded for the flame of fighting spirit of the resistance.

    Memories children suffers, harmony of brotherhood separated, politeness of the universe was broken by the colonizers, expressed in fist to strengthen the unity, poke to stuck the heart of enemies, loud voices encouraged each other of all friends.

    Even if the life has not meaning today, tomorrow the clouds will still overshadow the promise. Tears just a moment, groaning was at first glance, tears were wiped by the flags flutter of this country.

    They won after step by step, fathoms by fathoms, took over the beloved Motherland. The bodies of enemies overlapped, there were ran helter-skelter to look for the location of hiding, into dead-end alleys, where they can not possibly save their breath, they disarmed the war tools to encircle the maps that have not been controlled yet.

    The deepest feelings of love raised the sun of sacrifice and the music Tsjaikovski gave the direction of certainty solidified the heart of toughness to guide onto the top of the victory.

    Paid attention on the certain side of Tsjaikovski works, it’s expressed what was argued by the literary Shakespeare in “Shylock”: “I’ve never happy if I hear good music.” And Tsjaikovski is one of composers who admired by the writer and philosopher, Leo Tolstoy.

    Anyone created the towers of the classical music could not be separated from suffered of life and repeatedly failures, such as the early superficiality of him in 1869, when he played “overture Romeo and Julieta”. Big shame forced him to leave Moscow to make journey around Europe, visiting France, Germany, Austria, for far away places to be able to forget while he was drawing the experience in order to cover the lameness of findings, before believed deeper.

    Here, I remembered the reason of the Nobel literature committee that did not receive the masterpieces of Leo Tolstoy, because some of his writings identified referring to the concept of warfare. While in the different fields and another observations, the Nobel Peace Prize recipient, instead they turn the character of war on earth.

    As the end, I quote the phrase of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky when he was finding the experience in America: “Indeed, without music would make mad. Just because of love it (music), we both want to live. Who knows that there is no music in heaven. Let us take advantage of this opportunity as well as possible while we are here! “(In a letter to von Meck Senora)
